Found Skins
1998-2000

Installation at Art System, Toronto, 2000.
(Clay, Silk, Straw, Cable, Red Gels)

Lit solely by red lights, the installation consists of eight ceramic vessels, each cushioned in raw silk and resting on suspended bales of straw. The vessels were imprinted with such natural textures as leaves, pine needles and bark to evoke the idea of organic tree trunks with their openings suggesting ambiguous human orifices).

The Ontario College of Art and Design interviewed the artist and filmed the firing process (Tom Ready, Producer, 1999).
The artist gratefully acknowledges the Mounted Police Unit at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto for the bales of straw used in this exhibition.
